Oxbow & Fires
Posted in Uncategorized on September 26th, 2009 by Andrew B. – Be the first to commentI rambled up to Oxbow Bend in Teton Park for sunrise today. Thankfully the smoke from a nearby fire hung low over Jackson Lake allowing Mt. Moran to tower above it. The one below was taken a few minutes before sunrise.
A few minutes after sunrise.
I continued north for a quick visit to Yellowstone, where Yellowstone Lake was shrouded in smoke.
These last two images are not especially noteworthy..
The Arnica Fire in Yellowstone grew to 1600 acres today.
The Bearpaw Bay Fire in Teton Park has burned over 1500+ acres.

Posted in Landscapes on September 16th, 2009 by Andrew B. – Be the first to commentThe aspens in Teton Park are just beginning to change, while the cottonwoods along the streams are well on their way. Today I was mostly on the lookout for elk, though I didn’t manage to see any until it was too dark to photograph. The next couple of weeks should be good for photography with the fall color and elk rut.
There were pockets of aspens that had already changed. These were along Pacific Creek.
