Oxbow & Fires

I rambled up to Oxbow Bend in Teton Park for sunrise today. Thankfully the smoke from a nearby fire hung low over Jackson Lake allowing Mt. Moran to tower above it. The one below was taken a few minutes before sunrise.

A few minutes after sunrise.

I continued north for a quick visit to Yellowstone, where Yellowstone Lake was shrouded in smoke.

Smoky Sunset

There are a few fires burning around the valley. A large one is prescribed; the other small ones are lightning caused. Their smoke hung around the valley today and made for a colorful sunset.

I came across a small herd of Pronghorn at Antelope Flats.

I rambled up to Schwabacher’s Landing in Teton Park for sunrise this morning. Although there were not any clouds or fog, it was nonetheless a great morning.

We had a colorful sunset tonight over Jackson Hole. This was taken in my backyard.

More Aspens

The aspens in Teton Park are just beginning to change, while the cottonwoods along the streams are well on their way. Today I was mostly on the lookout for elk, though I didn’t manage to see any until it was too dark to photograph. The next couple of weeks should be good for photography with the fall color and elk rut.

Backlit Aspens

There were pockets of aspens that had already changed. These were along Pacific Creek.

A couple more images of early fall color. These ones from Hoback Canyon in Bridger-Teton National Forest. Hopefully, these are a good sign of the fall color to come..
