The streams in Jackson Hole are finally dropping into shape, which means less driving to reach the water but also even less attention given to photography. Though I don’t have my ‘good’ camera when I’m wading, I always take it with me, so I’ll make it a point to get the camera out of the bag more often.

Gros Ventre Flowers

While fishing the Gros Ventre River I came across these harebells drooping down a cliff.

I stopped at the springs today after unsuccessfully trying to photograph mountain goats; I did see a few, but they were too high up the mountainside for pictures. I have stopped at the springs many times, but only in spring and summer when the higher water level hides much of the springs.

Calcium carbonate deposits give the water that milky appearance, which contrasts with the much darker river.

Since I don’t use my macro lens all that much, I was glad to take a break from fishing and put it to good use.
