As some might guess, the lack of posts lately is due to the arrival of the summer fishing season. The streams in Jackson Hole are finally dropping into shape, which means less driving to reach the water but also even less attention given to photography. Though I don’t have my ‘good’ camera when I’m wading, I always take it with me, so I’ll make it a point to get the camera out of the bag more often.

While fishing the Gros Ventre River I came across these harebells drooping down a cliff.

Stinking Springs bubbles up out of a talus slope along the Hoback River. I stopped at the springs today after unsuccessfully trying to photograph mountain goats; I did see a few, but they were too high up the mountainside for pictures. I have stopped at the springs many times, but only in spring and summer when the higher water level hides much of the springs.

Calcium carbonate deposits give the water that milky appearance, which contrasts with the much darker river.
