My intent for this morning was to photograph the lunar eclipse. I envisioned a full, red moon setting behind the peaks of the Tetons. Unfortunately I was not up in the park early enough to do so. I thought 45 minutes before the official moonset would be enough time to get some images, but I underestimated how much earlier 13,000′ peaks cause the moon to set. According to a friend I was only a few minutes too late. I guess I’ll have to try again in 2014.

The clouds lifted briefly today, allowing for a view of the newly snow-covered Tetons.

A fall storm brought the first snow to the valley today. I cut out of work a little early and rambled up to Teton Park. The fall color is just passed its prime, so the idea was to photograph the fresh snow on the still vibrant trees.

Fall color has definitely arrived in and around Jackson Hole.
