First Wildflowers

The first wildflowers are starting to pop up in Grand Teton National Park. My flower identification skills leave a lot to be desired, but I believe the yellow flowers are sagebrush buttercups, while I’m not sure of the white ones.

Grizzly 399

Yesterday I left work early with the hope of photographing bears. Unfortunately nothing was happening. When we got word in the office today that grizzly 399 was out, I again left work early, and this time had a more successful day. Not only was 399 out, but also her daughter, 610, and another solitary, collared grizzly. Amazingly that’s eight bears – albeit including cubs – in relatively close proximity to each other. I was only able to get a few good shots of 399, but it was an exciting day nonetheless.

I had not planned on going back to Oxbow Bend today, but I got bored and decided to anyway. My thinking being that I have to take advantage of the off-season (non-tourist) wildlife opportunities. Grizzly 610 and the cubs were out when I got up there and stayed out for most of the afternoon.
