Sleeping Indian Sunset

Sleeping Indian

The setting sun lights up a field of wildflowers below Sleeping Indian. I had hoped to photograph the Perseid meteor shower last night, unfortunately the full moon put an end to that idea.

Gone Fishing

As some might guess, the lack of posts lately is due to the arrival of the summer fishing season. The streams in Jackson Hole are finally dropping into shape, which means less driving to reach the water but also even less attention given to photography. Though I don’t have my ‘good’ camera when I’m wading, I always take it with me, so I’ll make it a point to get the camera out of the bag more often.

Gros Ventre Flowers

While fishing the Gros Ventre River I came across these harebells drooping down a cliff.

399 Again

Grizzly 399 continues to be seen on an almost daily basis. This evening she was in one of her favorite areas near Pilgrim Creek.

Grizzly Bear 399

She stood a couple of times, unfortunately looking in the opposite direction. (Notice the red ear tag.)

Grizzly Bear 399 and Cubs

She nursed a couple of times as well. This first time was cut short, likely because one of the cubs got a little too aggressive. I can’t imagine how sharp those little teeth are.

399 and Cubs

Grizzly 399 and her cubs were out this evening in Teton Park. Thankfully I rambled north after work, as it was some of the best bear watching I have done.

Grizzly Bear and Cub

While mom grazed nearby, the cubs wrestled and played in a small stream.

Yet Even More Fox Kits

As the title suggests, here are a few more fox kits from this evening. They are starting to wander farther from the den, so it’s likely they won’t be around for much longer.

Grizzly Cubs and a Marmot

Grizzly #399 and her cubs were spotted today after not being seen for nearly two weeks. I was able to watch them for roughly 10 minutes as the cubs nursed and then wrestled before wandering back into the forest. The below image is by no means good, but I thought I’d share it anyway. It was great seeing 399 with another set of triplets.

Grizzly Bear Cubs

Though I have seen many marmots, I’ve had few opportunities to photograph them. I was glad to see this one scampering out of a hollow log while I waited, hoping for 399 to come out again.

Grizzly

There have been three different grizzly bears, eight including cubs, seen in Teton Park the last couple of weeks. I photographed #610 and her two cubs on May 30th. #399, 610′s mother, and her three spring cubs were seen last Sunday. And this bear, nicknamed “Blondie,” has been out and about the past week.

Grizzly Bear

The bear stood as a loud motorcycle drove by, unfortunately I wasn’t fast enough to turn the camera vertical.
